Another Waffle Arare 'Shanorak'

I had so many plans for my March break.

Hi there Ziggy!
I finished a couple. I reported last week on the two bags which took longer than expected... and then I worked on the 'shanorak' for local-daughter.

Very happy with it. And it is finished just in time for the milder weather.

When I offered to make this for her there was a condition - she was getting the same size and features that I had made for me. (She had tried mine on and admired it, and it was obviously not necessary to 'fit' it closely).

I was a bit more careful with the plaid-matching... that top front panel... which is in several pieces will never match up with a continuous piece for the bottom panel, but I was more careful about how I centered it.

I tried something for the sleeves, and while I understand the procedure, the execution challenged me.

I photocopied a piece of the fabric, then pinned the sleeve pattern piece to the body, lined up the photocopy (to match with the bodice), pinned it in place, then used that to place the sleeve piece on the fabric for cutting.

As you can see, something shifted. But I don't mind. I am still happy with the end result, and so was local daughter. And her beau is always complementary on my makes!

The shanorak kind of matches the dog, doesn't it?!

Matching mother daughter!
