Another pair of Waffle Azuki work pants
I really love this pattern. I like the silhouette. Are there a couple of things that could be better? Sure. The back pockets are still low, which create a bubble of fabric under them. But I still love the pattern.
This one is made with some Chambray bought on rue St. Hubert in Montreal in March.
Somethingnew I did this time was a top-stitched design on the rear pockets. You can download a book of designs from Closet Core's website by signing up for their newsletter.
Very happy with these!

Upcycle project
Thirty years ago (I can hardly believe it), when I was pregnant with daughter number one my doula had a red plaid shirt. I was envious (she was also wearing jeans, which I could not wear in my pregnant state!). So as soon as I could I made myself one. I really loved that shirt. In fact several years later I made a second shirt with the same pattern, with a red baby-cord with some paisley design on it.
Over the years I wore them less. The sleeve cuff on the plaid shirt had worn through to the interfacing. At some point I had painted in the other one (WHAT was I thinking?!)
But I hung on to them. When Pattern Review had an upcycle conest this month I knew it was time to do something. I looked at all kinds of amazing inspiration photos, and ended up with this plan.
I enden up cutting the main pieces down using the McCall's 7351 shirt dress (that I had used for my dragon print shirt). The fit at the sholders is very good. So I cut the sleeves out of the sleeves, and the yoke out of the yoke, and the front and back out of the front and back. You get the picture!
What I kept:
- the collar
- the front button hole and button 'band' (it is not a true band, just folded over)
- the curved back bottom for the back peplum.
