Utility wrap skirt, tank top, t-shirt

with hoodie
I got busy recently! I sewed up the McCall's 8479 wrap skirt with pleat detail that I had in my plans. I used some lovely cotton twill (Olive) from my Japan stash. It was an easy sew. I was even pleased with the fly. I ended up following the method in the instructions (after toying with other methods), and if you are precise it works very well. (Lesson learned!).

Oh, and by the way - I did not make it to round two in the Surprise Sprint (Pattern Review). Their task was to make a garment to go with the hoodie. I would have done something with this skirt... maybe added a bug net petticoat! It would NOT have been up to par! The results were fabulous!

Sure, it is a bit short. I will have to wear it with something underneath. Seems to be my habit...

Then I used up most of the rest of that shifty houndstooth linen to make tank top number three for local daughter. This is the top I drafted the pattern for, and which looks lovely on her!

I also recognized that I needed a black short sleeved t-shirt. A couple days later my local indi fabric store had a VIP sale, and there was this cool hemp/cotton blend knit. So I got it and sewed up a short-sleeved version of Jalie's Marie-Claude. I quite like raglan sleeves, it turns out! This fabric feels neat - a bit rough, but it is supposed to wear well!

Oh, and I also finished a different Jalie Marie-Claude that I had almost given up on a year ago, with  linen blend knit from our British Columbia trip. I managed to fix what I did not like about it, so now have two new black tops.
